Scuba diving
From caves to submerged vessels that now are home to several species, the Azores have the perfect conditions for scuba diving. Discover the mysteries that hide beneath the waters of São Miguel.
The practice of scuba diving is something deeply rooted in micaelense culture.
There are many excellent sites for scuba diving in São Miguel, like the area around Vila Franca Islet; the Dori, a sunken Second World War ship off the South coast; the Lourenços and Sabrina Reefs, situated west of the Island. For the most adventurous it is possible to dive in the Formigas Islet and in the Dollabarat bank, located 40 miles away from São Miguel Island.
