The name Quinta dos Curubás originated from an inspiring trip to Brazil, where the owners discovered the exotic curubá fruit, a variety of passionflower that enchanted them with its beauty and symbolism.
They brought seeds that now flourish on the property. This climbing plant symbolizes the connection between cultures and the passion for nature that defines the essence of the farm.
At the heart of the property stands the Chapel of Saint John, a historical landmark, a chapel with 16th-century origins, which adds spirituality and authenticity, making this place truly unique.
It offers a botanical journey through various continents, with species from South Africa, Brazil, Ethiopia, and England. The mild climate of the Azores allows for the cultivation of numerous tropical and subtropical fruits. The orchard, in partnership with Quinta da Palmeira, delights with oranges, custard apples, passion fruit, guavas, mangoes, limes, papayas, avocado pears, and the unique curubá tree, which inspires the name Quinta dos Curubás. The vegetable garden, cultivated with organic compost produced on the farm itself, completes the experience.

Located just 1 km from Vila Franca do Campo, the former capital of São Miguel Island, Quinta dos Curubás offers a breathtaking view of the famous Ilhéu, formed by an ancient submerged volcano whose flooded crater creates a perfect natural pool. Vila Franca, founded in the 15th century, was once the political and economic center of the island until it was devastated by the 1522 earthquake. Today, reborn, it enchants with its gardens, traditional architecture and the famous Queijadas da Vila (Vila Franca cheese tarts).
Apples that are almost nonexistent elsewhere. Curubás, avocados, guavas, tangerines. You can pick them. With guidance.
