Rebuilt between 1992 and 1994, the São João chapel is the second oldest chapel of São Miguel Island. It is estimated that it was built around 1505, before the great earthquake of 1522, in Vila Franca do Campo.
Despite belonging to the Quinta dos Curubás estate, the chapel can be visited by the public.
The chapel is the starting point of the procession in honour of São João da Vila, on the 24th of June.
